Speaker: Joe Donnelly, Deputy Executive Director of Communications for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission
Mr. Donnelly will place special emphasis on the bridges that span the section of the river between Bucks County, Pa. and Mercer County, NJ. The first bridge across the Delaware river was at Trenton, NJ and Morrisville, Pa in 1806. It was the second covered bridge in the United States, the first to carry a railroad between two states (1830), and the first to have elements of a suspension bridge. Today, the Bucks-Mercer river section has the narrowest vehicular bridge the oldest vehicular bridge and the newest bridge between the two states.
