The Whale is a 2022 American psychological drama based on a 2012 play of the same name. The film stars Brendan Fraser who won Best Actor at this year’s Academy Awards. The plot follows a reclusive, morbidly obese English teacher who tries to restore his relationship with his teenage daughter. Charlie hopes to reconnect with Ellie whom he has not seen in eight years. His obesity might be caused by the failure of his marriage, the estrangement of his daughter and the death of his former lover.
