Labeled “undeniably powerful” by the Hollywood Reporter, this drama is about two sisters trying to escape the civil war in Syria. Since the war began, millions of Syrians have been forced to flee their homes and live as refugees. The Swimmers is a moving and harrowing true story. It mixes a turbulent array of emotions during its 2-hour run-time. The movie received a four-minute ovation at the Toronto Film Festival.
The film is based on the true story of Yusra and Sara Mardini.
“The Swimmers” is a touching portrait of their fight to survive
and achieve the impossible. It’s indicative of the struggle faced by immigrants historically and presently.
